R&R Partners Named One of 25 Best Small Companies to Work For in the U.S.
R&R Partners was recognized on June 23, 2008, as one of 25 recipients of the Society for Human Resource Management Best Small Companies to Work For in America award. The companies were selected in cooperation with the Great Place to Work® Institute (GPTW) in its ranking of the nation’s top 25 small businesses. Winners received their awards in Chicago at the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) 60th Annual Conference and Exposition.
The Salt Lake City office of R&R Partners, with its 21 employees, is the creative team behind the Intermountain Healthcare, Utah Transit Authority and the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control advertising campaigns. R&R employees have been guided by their motto “Git’er done!” for the agency’s 2007 work ethic. The motto has applied not only to working hard and playing hard, but to taking care of one another. For example, when an employee was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, she received 60% of her salary through long-term disability insurance. Co-workers then signed up to contribute a portion of their pay to make up the 40% difference.
Of the 146 applicants for the small employer category, R&R Partners ranked number 24. “The ranking is based upon a random survey of each company’s employees, who send GPTW answers to a detailed questionnaire about workplace culture,” said Hal Adler, GPTW president. “We then analyze those responses in conjunction with other factors to create the ranking. It’s the same approach we use in creating our ‘FORTUNE’s 100 Best Companies to Work For®’ list.”
“Top U.S. companies succeed by using smart people-management strategies to develop highly productive and satisfied workforces,” said SHRM President and CEO, Susan R. Meisinger. “Particularly in times of economic instability, knowing how to best manage your employees is an essential part of keeping productivity high and your organization open for business. That’s why these companies deserve our applause, now more than ever.”
The Society for Human Resource Management Best Small & Medium Companies to Work for in America winners range in size from 50 to 999 workers, with “small” being a workforce of 50-250 and “medium” employing from 251 to 999. This year, 321 companies participated in the overall selection process. That process included distribution of a 57-question survey to each organization’s workforce and a separate questionnaire for management. The Great Place to Work Institute then reviewed each company’s annual reports, employee handbooks and other materials.
R&R Partners builds innovative brand relationships across a wide range of audiences through such integrated services as advertising, public relations, government and public affairs, research, media, branded entertainment and digital marketing. A world leader in travel and tourism marketing, R&R received Brandweek’s coveted Grand Marketer of the Year award for the Las Vegas “What happens here, stays here” campaign – the first agency ever to receive this honor. Ranked among the top 10 regional agencies in the U.S. by Adweek magazine, R&R Partners reports annual billings of $250 million and maintains offices in Las Vegas, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Reno and Washington, D.C. R&R also specializes in utilities, healthcare, telecommunications, substance prevention and transportation marketing. For more information, visit www.rrpartners.com.
Local PR Manager to Judge Silver Anvil Awards
The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) has picked da Vinci Advertising & Marketing’s public relations manager, Sarah Jane Buhr, to be a judge in this year’s prestigious Silver Anvil Awards. Buhr will head to New York City this March to assess both national and international PR campaigns. These campaigns and innovative PR events come from advertising agencies around the world.
The Silver Anvil Awards are like the Oscars or Emmys of the PR world. Judges have awarded resourceful and creative agencies for excellence in public relations for more than 50 years. This is a great honor for one of Utah’s own public relations professionals.
da Vinci Advertising & Marketing will also be throwing their own hat into the competition. The PR team has already submitted an entry into the Multicultural Event section with the grand opening of the First Utah Bank International Office, “Luck and Prosperity Festival.” This was an event surrounding financial opportunities, education and new business growth for ethnic minorities in Salt Lake, particularly those of the East Asian, Polynesian and Hispanic communities.
Buhr will not be judging her own agency’s work. However, this will be an opportunity for her to evaluate and appraise winning work from around the globe.
